Spoonbill Portrait
Sometimes an unextraordinary moment can make for a beautiful image. We sat at this dam watching the hippos from a distance when out of nowhere, this Spoonbill crossed my field of view. He had his spoon-shaped beak in the water, wading around the shallows, looking for food. I captured this portrait, which turned out to be one of my personal favourite images, as he picked his head up for a moment, a single droplet of water falling from his beak.
Taken in Kruger National Park.
