Who is Caitlin de Greef?

I grew up in the UK, close to the countryside. I would spent my childhood days exploring the hills, the woods and the fields nearby - always outside and always in nature. Having close family ties to South Africa, I spent many childhood holidays in the wilds of the bushveld. These experiences in nature, coupled with the enthusiasm that my parents fostered for the wild (which was inevitably passed onto me) instilled a passion deep within me, and its this passion that first inspired me to pick up a camera.

Photography has been a constant in my personal life and career since I was just a teenager. I studied a BA(Hons) Photography at university and from there I started working in an e-commerce studio in Dublin. I always loved to photograph nature and wildlife but lacked the confidence and belief that I could make a career out of it. For many years, I put my focus into safer career options, only to find myself constantly drawn back to the wilderness with my camera in hand.

Since the beginning of 2023, I have concentrated my efforts on wildlife photography and videography. I have been lucky enough to spend 9 months in the South African wilderness where I was able to hone my skills and get involved with some critical projects.

Through photography and video, I hope to connect people with the beauty of the wild, to inspire action, and make meaningful impact in consevation efforts to protect the natural world.

My Values

Conservation

Conservation is at the heart of what I do. I seek to work closely with vulnerable species, using my photographs and videos to raise crucial funding and bring light to the threats these species face. 10% of proceeds made from the sale of my prints go to fund select conservation projects throughout the world.

Sustainability

I am proud to print my work through The Print Space who are 100% end-to-end carbon neutral using sustainable processing and packaging. I take great care in my personal and professional life to be as sustainable as possible.

Mental Health

I believe that nature plays a crucial role in mental health and stability. I know from personal experiences how deeply it can affect your state-of-mind. I hope that by sharing images and stories of my time in the wild, I can bring a sense of peace and well-being to those who need it and may not otherwise have access to nature.
